EPFO Pension Alert: Submit These 5 Documents Before July 28 To Avoid Payment Hold

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued a major alert for pensioners. All pensioners under EPS would now have to submit certain documents by July 28, 2025, failing which the pension might be stopped from August 1. This exercise has been initiated by EPFO for the purpose of record updation and also to ensure transparency and accuracy in making the payments of pension funds.

Why Is This Update Important?

Thousands of pensioners are yet to update their documentation or conform to new verification norms and may suffer a disruption in the payment of their pensions until they comply. New pensioners, as well as older ones, undertake this process, according to EPFO.

5 Documents You Must Submit

There are certain documents that EPFO pensioners are required to keep ready and submit through proper channels (either online or at the EPFO office) in order to avoid any disturbance in pension payment:

1. Aadhaar Card

  • Its main purpose is to establish or verify identity and also link the EPF account to Aadhaar.

2. PPO Number (Pension Payment Order)

  • It is necessary to track and verify your eligibility and records for pension.

3. Bank Passbook/Cancelled Cheque

  • The document is considered when verifying bank account details into which the pension is credited.

4. PAN Card

  • It is necessary if your pension income is levied at the income-tax bracket.

5. Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan)

  • A digital Life Certificate is provided for biometric devices via the internet. It basically confirms that the person is alive and eligible to receive a pension. Filing is done online by one who possesses biometric features or at Jeevan Pramaan centres.

Deadline and Consequences

The deadline for submission of the said documents is July 28, 2025. Where such person shall fail to comply with the said requisites by the said date, he shall not be paid his/her pension for the month of August. The EPFO assures that payments shall have to be made again upon updating of the documents, but the delay in the payments may cause a financial hardship.

How to Submit

The documents can be submitted through:

  • EPFO Member Portal: [https://www.epfindia.gov.in](https://www.epfindia.gov.in)
  • Common Service Centres (CSCs)
  • Regional EPFO Offices

Make sure to keep the details correct; else, the documents might be rejected or face delay in processing due to mismatching with EPFO records.
